On Wednesday 11 August Micah Challenge and Make Poverty History joined together for a national day of action to ask our leaders The Poverty Question. We wanted to get The Poverty Question on the agenda and we wanted a response to two specific policy questions.
It worked! We got the question on the agenda.

We got a response from the Prime Minister's office - Click here to see the response

All major parties have now made policy announcements
-
We got policy movement from the Coalition to one of our Poverty Questions. On Thursday 12 Aug Julie Bishop stated the coalition, if elected, would appoint a Junior Minister for International Development
This is a great step forward from the coalition, but we need bi-partisan support for this. Thanks to all our supporters for the work you have done. Now is your chance to continue the conversation and ask the ALP to make a commitment to appointing a Minister for International Development.
TAKE ACTION NOW!
1. Email Stephen Smith
| - Send an email to Stephen Smith saying you support the Coalition's commitment to a Minister for International Development and asking the Labor Party to make the same commitment to ensure the money we spend on aid is as effective as possible in eradicating poverty. Stephen Smith's email address is: Stephen.Smith.MP@aph.gov.au You could also email Julie Bishop thanking her for the commitment the coalition has made to appointing a Minister and encouraging her once again to make a concrete commitment to 0.7%.
