Sign the Micah Call
11 May, 2010
On 21 June 2010 a giant scroll listing the names of thousands of Christians will be rolled out across the floor of the Great Hall of Canberra's Parliament House, in a striking Voices for Justice Signature Event.
The names featured on the scroll represent the voices of Christians who have committed themselves to the fight against global poverty by signing the Micah Call - a statement of faith in support of the aims of Micah Challenge.
Micah Challenge is encouraging Christians across the country who are yet to sign the Micah Call, to do so today on the Micah Challenge website. Please sign before 15 June, so that the list of names on the scroll will stretch as far as possible across the floor of the Great Hall.

1 March, 2010
Last year, 8.8 million children died in extreme poverty before reaching their fifth birthday; that's more than 24 000 children dying every day - mostly from easily preventable causes, like diarrhoea and pneumonia. These children, who happen to have been born into poverty, have just as much value to God as our kids here in Australia. Micah Challenge wants to see grassroots action to advocate for the world's kids springing up from Churches all over Australia, and have come up with a simple but effective action idea to help Churches engage with this issue.
"We want to see 'Survive Past Five' 5th Birthday Parties held in all 150 electorates across Australia before the 2010 Federal Election", said Micah Challenge National Coordinator, Mr. John Beckett. "The 'Survive Past Five' campaign presents an exciting opportunity to use our voices for justice, by advocating to see more kids survive to their fifth birthday - and beyond."
A 5th Birthday Party is a great way to engage your church, school, workplace or wider community with this key justice issue. The action can be easily adapted to various church-life settings, including family church services, morning teas, kids church, or playgroups. It can also create an opportunity to connect with your local media and your Member of Parliament (MP). Invite your MP to attend your party or send them a photo along with signed 5th birthday campaign cards to encourage our Government to do its fair share towards making sure that every child can survive past five.

21 January, 2010
On Sunday 10 October 2010 millions of Christians around the world will unite for a BIG day of Prayer and Promise to see half a billion people released from extreme poverty. 100 million Christians will pray for fresh vision to take action on poverty, and more than 10 million will take part in the BIG Promise.
Micah Challenge Australia is calling on churches and Christians around the country to set aside Sunday 10 October 2010 to pray, speak and act against poverty. Micah Challenge will provide churches with resources to guide their prayer, worship and action on that day.
As a sign of our promise, Micah Challenge is asking people to make a handprint that will become part of a global message to national leaders.
